Hello Again CHS Class of '79!
First of all we would like to extend a great big WELCOME to the nine classmates we have found since the last newsletter and to the classmates for whom we just recently obtained e-mail addresses! The Reunion Planning Committee and several other classmates and friends deserve a HUGE THANK-YOU for the many hours they have spent tracking these folks down and getting the news of the reunion out!
For those who are receiving a newsletter for the first time or may have otherwise missed them, here are the details of the Reunion we have so far:
What: Savannah Central High School Class of 1979 30th Class Reunion
Date: Saturday, November 28, 2009
Time: 5:00 PM 'til ... well, as long as we can keep going!
Where: The Broken Spoke, 7405 Hwy 57, Counce, TN 38326
Cost: $15.00/person – covers food, name tags, press releases, mailings, etc.
Menu: Heavy Hors D'oeuvres – don't know exactly what yet, but, folks, these
people put out some FINE food! A cash bar will be available. [Update
since the last edition: We got word yesterday that Diana almost has
the menu completed – stay tuned for that!]
Dress: Casual – remember, you'll be at Pickwick! There is no set theme, but
wear that letterman's jacket, cheerleading outfit, band shako, class pin
or class-ring-on-a-chain or anything else from your high school days;
I think even cowboy boots and hats will be acceptable!
Entertainment: The Spoke's house band playing 70's music
Registration Deadline: We would like to have all registrations by November 8th, but
the drop-dead date is November 15, 2009. This is so we can prepare
your photo name tags, order food, etc., and have everything ready in time for this great event!
To Register: Print off and fill out the attached Registration Form and mail it along with your check made payable to CHS Class of 1979 to:
David Long, 30 Fairground St., Savannah, TN 38372
More Information: Go to Facebook and Search: 'Savannah Central High Class of 79'
E-mail davidratliffdvm@hotmail.com, or call David at 865.804.2697
Go to John Lay's website: http://classof79.laysonline.com
Or simply respond to this e-mail. We are working on getting a local
telephone contact in the Savannah area.
As of this writing we have, including a few 'Tentatives', 117 people who plan to attend the reunion, but we have received only eight Registration Forms and checks so far. If you know that you are going to attend, please send your forms and checks to David Long at the earliest possible moment. Members of the Planning Committee are doing much of the preparation work, such as making our pin-on picture name badges, themselves to help keep the cost of the reunion as low as possible. Please be prompt with your registrations so all of this work doesn't stack up on them at the last minute. Plus, and this is really important, Diana and Jay need to know how many are coming so they can order and prepare enough food for all of us!
Diana has also made a request to the class for assistance in decorating the food tables. If any class member has any memorabilia from your high school days, such as a trophy or other award, jacket or sweater, Baccalaureate or Graduation Invitation or Program, Football Game Program, newspaper clipping or anything else you might think of, she would love to borrow those to decorate the food service tables, and she and Jay promise that extra care will be given your valuable keepsakes. Please contact Diana if you would like to participate with decorations. I know it would mean a lot to her and to the class as well.
Some of you newly found classmates have said you would help us try to locate those on our 'Lost Souls' list, so we are once again publishing it, and will probably continue to do so through our final issue before the Reunion. Please respond to this e-mail or to any committee member or any other classmate who can forward the information to us if you have any information on any of the following classmates:
Rosemary Aldersaebaes Lisa Jackson Kathy Price
Tony Bridges Teresa Jerrolds Tommy Price
Randy Casteel Ricky Keele Regina Pridmore
Bill Castello Jimmy Ledbetter Renee Pridmore
Sharon Cherry Brenda Lowrey Kathy Scott
Johnny Cox Jeanette McCasland Steve Stricklin
Ken Crotts Steve McCasland Terry Warren
Anne Davis Donnie Mitchell Jana West Parker
Judy Franks Bruce Oakley Alisa Wilkerson Deshazier
Vicki Franks Gray Johnny Oakley Gayle Witherspoon
Ronnie Hill Larry Partain Steve Worley
We started with 103 lost and with your help have made great progress finding them, but any further assistance you could give us would be greatly appreciated! There are only 33 of us left to find! Please don't let any of these folks that you might know miss out on this great event!
For this next short list we need some help from someone in the local Savannah area. We have tried calling these people from Florida with mixed and mostly negative results; for whatever reason these folks will just not return our calls. It may be that they just will not respond to calls from unfamiliar numbers or numbers out of their areas. These are all that are left from the extensive list that Lisa Devore Stricklin worked so exhaustively on – those she has not yet been able to reach. Please, please, will someone from Savannah give Lisa a break and call the following classmates and get the rest of their contact information so we can get this news to them:
Sharon Cherry Ware - 731.885.5880
Barbara Ellison - 931.527.3115
Jan Gray - 870.933.0095
Johnny Oakley - 731.925.9364 and/or 731.926.3731
Steve Stricklin - 731.925.1115
Alisa Wilkerson Deshazier - 731.925.7305
We would also like to keep in mind teachers who might enjoy this gathering. Those of you who might be in contact with any of them, please issue them invitations to attend and let us know the results. We know of several already who have said they would enjoy attending ... let's please see that they all get invitations if possible
And again, one final note for this issue. Any classmate who would like to and could otherwise attend the reunion, but is unable to do so because of financial constraints, please respond to this e-mail. A special sponsor has been arranged who will ensure that you can join us for the evening. Arrangements will be made privately and confidentially to avoid any embarrassment on your part. No one will ever know how this was arranged or even that it was arranged in the first place. Please do not be shy if you fall into this category … and please do respond. We are all well aware of the present state of our economy.
Again, we are all looking forward to a great gathering and a grand time. Please join us ... get your registrations in early and don't leave yourself open to regret for missing this 30th Class Reunion!
REGRETS ARE NOT AUTHORIZED FOR THIS CLASS!!!
